A new Spanish restaurant for Didsbury from the team behind El Rincon

Rafa’s menu is a highlights reel of tapas
The team behind El Rincon – something of a Manchester institution – have recently opened a brand new restaurant in Didsbury.
Rafa’s is located in the heart of Didsbry village and serves a casual and contemporary take on traditional Spanish dining.
They’ve taken the 15 best-selling dishes from their city centre restaurant to build their menu. It is essentially a best-of collection of tapas.
The menu includes patatas bravas, albondigas, chorizo and pil pil, as well as a selection of paellas which can be ordered in huge batches to share across the table or in individual sizes.
They’re striving to cater for vegans and vegetarians plus those with gluten and dairy intolerances.
Joining the 15-item menu will be regular seasonal specials – and they’ve just announced on their Instagram page that they’ll be adding Bomba Catalana, a deep-fried ball of meat and potato topped with a spicy tomato sauce.
The drinks menu is, of course, largely Spanish, featuring beers, wines and coffees.
El Rincon de Rafa on Deansgate has been serving authentic tapas dishes for close to 25 years but this new site will operate with a more laid-back cafe vibe.
Founder Rafael Cabrera-Vargas, said in a statement: “We chose to open in Didsbury because it’s a thriving village with a real food and drink hub that we’re pleased to now be a part of.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming the local residents whether they’re new to Spanish cuisine or regulars from El Rincón and getting to know our new home.”
Rafa’s in Didsbury is open seven days a week from midday until midnight at 653 Wilmslow Road.
